This section is for gamblers and their families to share artwork, poetry, and stories. Many people have become inspired by their experience of addiction and recovery; like this gentleman, who spent most of his life gambling. It wasn't until he quit gambling and cleared his mind, that he found he could write poetry. He has now written enough to put a book together and is getting it published.

Dear Booze and
Gambling,
Because I've sought out a higher power, greater than either of you or that of myself, I must tell you that we have to split the sheets! No longer can I lie there sandwiched between such addicting illnesses. At one time it was great to have you both in my bed of life. What one of you wouldn't do, the other would. Believe me when I say that I enjoyed all the pleasures you gave me. However, the pleasures came with a price. That price I will pay for the rest of my life. You both kept me from marriage and having a family. My health is much poorer; my money is all but gone. You have wasted 35 years of my life, because you gave me some thrills and highs. Now I must go on, not by myself but with my higher power and a hope of happiness. So long. I can't say it was good to know you, and I hope we don't meet again! --Don P.S. I'm spreading the word about you! ______________________________________________ |
I Am Hope
I am not a success, by no means at all.
But what I am is hope.
For if you know anything about me
And the things I have gone through in my life
You'd see more downs than ups.
I've taken the downs and put them aside
To make my life richer.
By believing in myself I have been able
To achieve things that
I'd never been able to do.
So if you look at me
Don't see success. See hope.
If my life shows you anything,
It is that you can make it.

No-Dice
Spin the wheel
that feels nice.
Roll the dice once or twice,
make it seven or eleven.
Spare me the real world
and take me to heaven.
Oops!
Holy craps...here I go again.
Dealer quick! The ATM
and pray, my balance and my pin
will quickly bring
me back again
to that place devoid of sorrow
that I need not worry
from who I will borrow
tomorrow.
